Bergdorf's ~ Holiday 2012

The curtain goes up on another holiday season at 57th & 5th.  It's as if we are transported to the golden age of jazz in the 20's and 30's.  BG presents its interpretation of the ebullient Ziegfeld Follies, and the extravagant Hollywood Busby Berkeley musicals.

The Art Deco jazz age is portrayed.  Costume and design, group performances, solo and novelty acts, as well as vaudeville, are all represented.  I love how they never shy away from a challenge.  The details and intricacies in these displays are dizzying.

I liked that they had an interactive component for more information on the making of the windows.  Also, for the 1st time ~ take The Instagram Challenge.  Send a photo, #BGWindows to win a prop from one of the window displays.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Wendy Goodman took us on a little tour of the visual display team that makes the magic happen year after year.

To Die for Tailgating

I always look forward to the extravagant, whimsical fantasy portion of the Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog.  This year I was most delighted to see ~

the Bulleit Frontier Whiskey Woody Tailgate Trailer. Be the envy of every sports fan in your Brad Ford-designed ride, which comes complete with a flat-screen TV, Blu-ray player, state-of-the-art sound system, leather furniture and wood finishings (made from reclaimed Bulleit Bourbon casks, of course).

If the looks aren't enough to draw you in, the $150,000 gift also buys you a year-supply of Bulleit Bourbon and Rye -- and a set of glasses to drink it from.
Only two of these limited-edition trailers are available. 10% of the proceeds will go to amfAR to fund AIDS research.

This speakeasy on wheels is beautifully appointed inside and out!  The luxurious high end tailgating and outdoor entertainment center on wheels was produced by Silver Tears Campers in collaboration with  Moore and Giles tannery.  The woody was 1st unveiled at the 2012 DIFFA event to great enthusiasm.  Then it did what campers do~ it took a road trip; traveling the country raising money for DIFFA.

Traditional American craftsmanship along with the creative vision of a "rising star in interior design" yielded a classic man cave to go.  Buffalo hide lines the interior and plush fur throws create the ultimate in cozy sleeping quarters

The mahogany clad camper's beer keg cooler is trimmed in ash.  The workmanship and superior materials are second to none.

I'm enthusiastic about a moveable bar/bedroom.  Who wouldn't be?  Hell, I don't have to leave my driveway.

Magenta On My Mind

Amanda Nisbet

Flirty, Sexy, Optimistic ~ It takes a bold personality to live in a magenta colored room.  Think bright pink with a blue base.  If this resonates with you, you must have a dynamic personality and an artistic flair.  With the exception of  bright red and orange, there is nothing more visually energetic than the bold bravado of magenta.  Used in small doses or covering a large area, it makes a unique statement.  I would always ground it with neutrals.  Any color in the pink family compliments skin tone; couple that with candle light and you are positively glowing!
