Blue by You

Bungalow 5

I am still recuperating from my quick trip to High Point Market.  It is a whirlwind of sights and sounds,  new introductions, up coming trends, parties, reconnecting with friends and colleagues.  It is a blur of the fabulous and inspiring.  I kept thinking, "Why has it taken me so long to attend?"

While the color of the year, radiant orchid is still a story, I saw an awful lot of blue continuing to be introduced in everything:  accessories, furnishings, beautiful lacquers on case goods.  These were mainly in inky or indigo blues, but there were some peacock and turquoise thrown in for good measure.

While I did see much blue, don't count out the power of purple.  It is still a popular choice, especially going into Spring 2014.  Both happen to be versatile colors, mixing easily with other bold warm or cool colors.

Headed to Market

I am so excited to be heading to High Point Market.   Twice a year more than 75,000 people head to the biggest furnishing trade show.  With more than 11.5 million square feet of show space and 180 buildings, I am more than a little overwhelmed!

I am looking forward to new discoveries, meeting up with colleges and blogger friends.  Follow along as I tweet some favorite finds or check back as I will most certainly share what's new, what's next, great finds in design and maybe a party shot or two.  Insider secret ~ Designers work hard and play hard.   Follow friends as they share their market inspiration or check in with me  @cleskowitz on twitter or carrieleskowitz on instagram.

See with you on the other side.

Design Morsel ~

In a new feature that I am doing; Design Morsel, I will highlight something I love that I am sourcing for a client or something particularly fabulous and noteworthy.  I'm nothing if not a sharer!

I discovered and wrote about Isabelle de Borchgrave when I saw her magnificent paper costume creations at Hillwood , Marjorie Merriweather's estate in Washington.  See the post here.  She has done many a licensed collection for tabletop, paper goods and textile companies; marrying her love of fashion and art.  Her newest passementerie collection for Fabricut has me swooning.  I love the Moorish feel and the vibrant colors.  I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite but I am choosing one to trim chairs with for a beach house.

It's amazing what a little trim can do right?
