Black and White ~ All Right!

ph:Roe Etheridge via W

It is bold, it is dramatic, it is a classic color combination.
It is an assault on the senses, a dance between the positive and negative space.
The visual impact packs a punch!
On your body, on your walls, as an accent ~ It is never boring and always makes a statement.
The only question is, what kind of statement do you want to make?

The Baguette is Back!

Hello lover.  I knew it was only a matter of time before you would reappear.  I've been waiting and watching for you to make a return.  The original "it bag" by Fendi is celebrating 15 years already.  Silvia Venturini's little creation launched a world wide love affair.  Marking the occasion ~

6 styles are being re-released to coincide with a book:  Fendi Baguette.  Look for it in stores beginning this month.  The tome features interviews and pictures of some 250 variations of the iconic bag.

I remember the insanity as each new bag came out.  Like little works of art, I could never decide which I loved more.  They were all so visually exciting.  The materials:  denim, raffia, python, wool.  The embellishments:  hand painting, hand beading, embroidery, mirror; it was dazzling!

The name baguette came from the way you were meant to hold it, under your arm like a loaf of french bread.
I may need to add to my collection ~ This gives a whole new meaning to the term, carbo loading.

Putting the PEP in Peplum

Curvy girls unite ~ the peplum is back.  Always flattering, always feminine, if you have no curves--create some.  It feels edgier and has exaggerated proportions.  Maybe that's why this time around I'm really digging it.  It's not the baby doll, innocent look of ole'.

Lanvin hit it out of the park with his peplum presentation!

Celine's clean lines for spring feel fresh and welcoming.  Phoebe Philo is at the top of her game!

While lady-like and demure, Jason Wu's oversize proportions make it a silhouette to be reckoned with

I am a huge fan of Mary Katrantzou.  Visually, no one is doing it better right now.  She never disappoints!

A lot of designers like Vera Wang did it for Spring and Fall.  It's here for a little while anyway.

Burberry gets high marks as well, doing their highlander/Downton Abbey look for  next fall

Surprisingly, any article of clothing, including pants can find new visual interest with a peplum~ All you have to do is find the version that suits your curves the best.  I have seen this look at every price point from top designers to J. Crew and Topshop.
